up today. state highway officials say they didn't pretreat wednesday night but the roads will be ready today. highway officials say one reason you saw so much on the road yesterday was because of pavement temperatures. they were too low so anything that was sprayed would freeze. maryland state highway administration is reminding drivers to prepare for possible snow this afternoon because of the pavement temperatures below 20 degrees, the state highway administration will not pretreat using salt due to potential freezing on the roads. now crews have been out all night patrolling and putting down -- preparing for the icy conditions. >> let's take a lesson from this and get ready and prepare because if schools are letting out early and during the tomorrow and people are leaving work we could have a worse gridlock. >> reporter: now the state highway administration offers the stipes for drivers. make sure -- tips for drivers. make sure to fill your gas tank and have a ice scraper and if you are sitting in traffic for a while that you are ready and

thanks for staying with us on this friday morning. the show won't go on for the country's largest sports and outdoor exhibit. now yesterday, organizers for the eastern sports and outdoors show will postpone indefinitely. it started last week when the organizers announce it wouldn't allow the sale or display of modern sporting rifles in other words guns like the ar-15 you recall that's the weapon tied to the mass shootings in sandy hook and aurora colorado. that led to hundreds of vendors pulling out including one of the main sponsors. cabela's and the show indefendant knit postponement.

we are told a 10-year-old a wrote a letter to the governor asking him to make the proclamation and he did. and this week coincides with national no name calling week to call attention to the problem of teasing kids and bullying one another. >> time for a check of the cold forecast. more snow on the way is that right? >> you got that right. it's coming in around 3:00 this afternoon. temperatures are cold enough to support the snow. so, anything that falls is sticking just like the round we got yesterday morning. now temperatures coming in at 13 degrees in westminster good morning northville. you are at 13. baltimore 17 degrees right now annapolis is coming in at 18. we are at 20 in centerville and easton 19. hunting town at 14 degrees and we will continue this cold trek through the day satellite and radar picking iewn clipper -- picking up on a clipper that's over the great lakes that will slide to the east as we go through the rest of the day. the south and east and we will get in on this snowy conditions as we go into time.

so how much snow? that's what everybody wants to know right? well, about 1 to 2 inches is pretty much what we will get. locally, maybe 2, a little higher. but, this is is a fast moving system. that's -- this is a fast moving system. that's what they are. they are come from canada and get in and get out and drop what they need to drop. the only thing is we have lots of dry air out there. so when you have lots of dry air, the dew points really on the low side, you can add up that powdery stuff quickly. future trend going to pick up on the snow pushing in as we go through the rest of the day. the rain to the south of us, but finally, all you snow lovers, we will get in on the snowy side of things. it moves out as we go later into the overnighttime frame so. by tomorrow morning, things should be tapering off a bit. going throughout the day on saturday, we will be seeing some sunshine. but today, temperatures coming in at 25 degrees. that snow will develop and by tonight, 19 degrees bitterly cold once again. snow showers lingering -- once again.

this is the time of year when you see a lot of empty desk in the office. coworkers getting sick and they call out. >> i was one of them yesterday. most people use one sick day a year. however, not deborah ford. she refired from the postal -- refired from the postal service for work this for 44 years and it's hard work. in all that time she never called out sick. ford says there were days when she did feel under the weather but she felt it was her duty to get people their mail. >> didn't you want to go to the mailbox and get a letter? and you go and want a letter. i want to make sure you get one. >> so it's duty you feat duty. >> right. neither rain sleet or snow. >> or sickness. ford worked short of 11,000
